The UAE has seen its coldest temperatures this winter as a result of three days of intense rain. Jebel Jais, the tallest mountain in the UAE, reportedly recorded a below-freezing low of 1.9°C on Sunday morning, according to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM). At 4.15 am, the chilly temperature was noted.
Water near the mountain’s summit froze due to the extreme cold.
Three days in a row saw heavy rain fall over the nation. One station, Al Faqa’a, recorded 118mm of precipitation at its conclusion. Given that the UAE experiences an annual average rainfall of 100 mm, this is considerable.
Today morning saw a clearing of the skies. For the next five days, the NCM has not predicted rain, but it has predicted partly cloudy conditions instead. Tuesday, January 31 is anticipated to see an uptick in temperature.
